Nina Brisley (1898-1978) had few equals as a children's illustrator. She studied at Hastings and Lambeth schools of art. She worked on most of Elizabeth Clark's stories, and is also famous for her illustrations of Elinor M Brent-Dyer's 'Chalet School' series.
