About Sir David Winkley
Sir David Winkley was head of Grove School, Handsworth, from 1974 to 1997, and was founder of the National Primary Trust in 1987, of which he is currently President. He has been a member of the present Government's educational Standards Task Force, and has served as advisor to several other Department for Education Advisory Committees. He has been a fellow ... Read moreof Nuffield College, Oxford, and since 1999 an honorary professor at the University of Birmingham. Originally a graduate of the University of Cambridge, he has a University of Oxford doctorate in philosophy and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Birmingham and Central England. His books include Diplomats and Detectives: LEA Advisors at Work (1985) and Business Planning for Schools (co-author with R. Puffitt and B.
