From the archives...  Kennys Bookshop mentioned by Nuala O'Faolain, the Irish Times in September 1988.

In a wonderful article (which may be read here courtesy of The Irish Times) Kennys was mentioned under the following subheadline:  Selling books is more than a business — it's a labour of love. And a good bookseller's enthusiasm rubs off on the customers. Nuala O'Faolain , a confirmed bookworm, picks a baker's dozen of Ireland's best bookshops.


...Kenny's of Galway is far, far more than a bookshop. It is a cultural and literary powerhouse, run by an endless number of Kennys, each more talented and enthusiastic than the last. They have the best international links of any Irish bookshop, but they are also proud , local patriots. For example, all Irish booksellers mention Noel Browne's "Against the Tide" as the book that broke every single rule about the book-buyer in Ireland. But Des Kenny singles out Breandan O'hEithir's "Lig Sinn i gCathu" as equally important in breaking the mould...
