Description for A Way of Peace
Paperback. Clean copy with minor shelf wear. Previous owner's name to half-title page. Remains a very good copy
The stark contrasts of life in Northern Ireland are nowhere more evident than in the little village of Rostrevor, just north of the border town of Newry. Along the shores of Carlingford Loch with its backdrop of mountains, the scene is one of tranquil beauty. But 18 British soldiers were ambushed and killed by the IRA two miles away at Warrenpoint in 1979 - only one of the many violent incidents that have scarred the community and deepened the tragedy of Northern Ireland. In 1974, a longing for peace and reconciliation and the clear leading of God's Holy Spirit brought a small community of people together in an old Victorian mansion in Rostrevor. The Christian Renewal Centre has been home to 60 people of different Christian traditions since its founding, and has welcomed numerous visitors to draw strength and find direction from God for the task of reconciliation. This book tells how the vision for the centre was given to its founder, Cecil Kerr and how its ministry has spread. Prayer and praise, repentance and forgiveness, are at the heart of the Centre.
