JIRÍ ANDEL is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. He is the author of eighty-five scientific papers and four books written in Czech, two of which have been translated into German. Mathematics of Chance is the first of his books to be translated into English.
