Reviews for Social Psychology
"One rarely says about a handbook, 'I couldn’t put it down.' Yet, that was the case with this volume. New principles, issues, methods, and a new focus on social psychology’s role in society make this a 'must-have' book for everyone in the field."
Carol S. Dweck, PhD, Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology, Stanford University "If you thought the ... Read morefirst edition of this handbook was good, this new edition is even better. This volume presents a thoroughly fresh, cutting-edge vision of what social psychology is and where we are heading in the 21st century. The list of topics is innovative, and the authors, without exception, are leaders in the field. The Handbook exemplifies the hard-nosed attitude toward theory, process, and evidence that characterizes modern social psychology, while eloquently illuminating the principles that make social psychological knowledge relevant across all facets of human life. This refreshingly forward-looking work is sure to occupy a central place in the literature for many years."
Harry Reis, PhD, Department of Clinical and Social Psychology, University of Rochester "A superb work that should prove as influential as the first edition. The continued emphasis on basic principles makes this handbook an outstanding resource for established researchers, as well as for students who are seeking to master the knowledge our science has accumulated."
Russell H. Fazio, PhD, Department of Psychology, The Ohio State University "This important second edition continues to have the unique goal of capturing and distilling the basic principles of social behavior that lie behind our extensive base of empirical observations. This is a very new book, however, with many novel chapters, an impressive new section on applications of social psychology, and many new contributors. This exceptional handbook will become a primary reference text for everyone from senior undergraduates to senior scientists."
