Michael Flavin is the author of Gambling in the Nineteenth-Century English Novel: 'A Leprosy is o'er the Land'. He has lectured at Canterbury Christ Church University College (1999-2001). He is currently Head of English at Rochester Independent College and lectures in nineteenth-century literature at the Open University.
