Dale L. Johnson received his PhD in clinical and developmental psychology from the University of Kansas in 1957. After a two year stint as a staff psychologist at a VA hospital, he began his academic career at the University of Houston in 1959. He was chairman of the Department from 1966-1972 and a Professor of Psychology from 1969-2005. From 1976 ... Read moreto 2000, he was also an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the School of Public Health, University of Texas. As an emeritus professor, he still teaches part-time at the University of Houston and continues to conduct developmental research as Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, an appointment he has held since 1996. In addition to his academic appointments, Dr. Johnson has been Director of the Houston Parent-Child Research Center and has acted as a consultant to Head Start, The World Health Organization, and mental health programs in nine states and six countries. He is the author or co-author of six books, over 160 peer reviewed journal articles, over 200 conference presentations and the recipient of over 30 research grants.
