Newspaper. The Nation, 1876, complete apart from No. 2 & No. 18. Founded by Thomas Davis, Charles Gavin Duffy & John Blake in October 1842, this nationalistic staple served as a mouthpiece for what became known as 'Young Ireland'. The newspaper, whose contributors included Lady Speranza, Charles Kickham and William Carleton was said to have "wound itself into the fabric of the Irish heart" and remained very influential even after 1848. Fraying to edges, and discolouration from age, o/w good. Revolutionary Ireland
