Christopher Nolan was born in 1965, and grew up in Dublin, overcoming cerebral palsy to write. He has published one collection of poems, Dam-burst of Dreams (London, Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 1981). His autobiography, Under the Eye of the Clock (Weidenfeld and Nicholsan, 1987/New York, St Martin's Press, 1988), won the Whitbread Award. His first novel is the Banyan Tree (London, Phoenix House, 1999/New York, Arcade Publishing, 2000). He lives in Co Meath. The U2 song, "Miracle Drug", was inspired by him.
