Neil Jordan

Neil Jordan was born in Sligo in 1950. He has published one book of short stories, A Night in Tunisia (Co-Op Books, 1976), and four novels:

His awards include the Guardian Fiction Prize (1979). He has scripted and directed several major films, including Angel; Company of Wolves (in collaboration with Angela Carter); Mona Lisa; High Spirits; The Miracle; The Crying Game, Michael Collins, for which he was awarded The Golden Lion at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival; and The Butcher Boy, based on the novel by Patrick McCabe, which McCabe scripted. He directed We're No Angels.

He has also written for the stage, and for Irish and British television and radio. He is a member of Aosdána, and lives in Co Dublin.
