The Irish Book Awards 2008 were open to all Irish authors who had a book published during the year 2007 and the event incorporates the entire book trade in Ireland, making it the first industry wide event of its kind in the history of the Irish book sector.
The category winners were announced on April 24th, 2008 at a Gala Awards Dinner in Dublin's Mansion House Round Room.

The Irish booksellers were honoured to present the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award to William Trevor of Mitchelstown, Co Cork. The award was presented by Anne Enright. He was described by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern as "one of our country's most prolific writers and above all, a master storyteller." |
