Rovers Rugby Football Club

12th January 2006

These men were all members of Rovers Rugby Football Club, who won the Connacht Junior Cup and Junior League fifty years ago, in the 1955/56 season. They are: (Back Row, left to right) Dan Mahoney; Peter Folan; Joe O'Donnell; Mr. Noone; Mr. McHugh; Dinny Connelly; Timmy Halloran; Mick Brennan and Dermot McSweeney.
(Front Row) Mr. Kilkelly; Paddy Connell; Tony Connelly; Brod Conneely; Harry Connell; Johnny Folan; Paddy Connor and Brod Ward.

This is one of the many photographs in the current issue of St.Patrick's Parish Magazine. As usual, it is a fascinating pot-pourri of articles, poems, illustrations, parish information and nostalgia. This interesting mix has been edited by James Casserley and is terrific value at €4. Anyone who has collected a complete set of this magazine over the years will realize just how important it is as a repository of local history.
